A fantastic product of Carignano del Sulcis grapes, this is a rich, full-bodied Sardinian dry red wine with smooth tannins and a well-balanced, complex mix of red fruit, leather and liquorice that characterise a great wine. This is one of my favourite “splurge” wines, a little too expensive to drink every day without guilt, but one of the first I’ll grab from the cellar for a special occasion. This wine doesn’t come from a fancy cellar, it is produced by the cooperative of vintners in the town of Santadi in western Sardinia.
