Periquita Reserva

A very good, dry every-day-is-a-holiday Portuguese red wine from the Setúbal area just south of Lisbon. Produced by José Maria da Fonseca, it is a blend of Spanish and Portuguese grapes Castelão, Touriga Nacional and Touriga Francesca grapes and is aged for 8 months in French and American oak before bottling. The wine has a complex, elegant nose of carub fruit, leather, tobacco, tea and cherries and reminds me of a Pinot Noir.
