A special oak-aged Assyrtiko combining the typical citric freshness of the grapes with richer nutty and vanilla notes. Goes well with grilled meats and fish and food cooked with lemon. This page gives an overview of all of Argyros’s wines, many of which regularly win awards and plaudits from well-known wine critics. I tried all (!) their wines on a visit to the cellar in 2018. Their relatively high prices are justified by the highly manual nature of how they’re produced in Santorini, whose vintners are famous for weaving grape vines into “baskets” to protect the grapes on the inside of the basket against wind-blown lava sand. Drop me a note if you want to try one of the other wines in their collection. I have access to most of them.
